New Delhi: AC Milan won their first Serie A trophy in 11 years last season, edging past arch-rivals Inter Milan on the very last day but the hard work does not stop there. After losing the club captain, Alessio Romagnoli, on a free deal to Lazio and having Zlatan Ibrahimovic injured, the Rossoneri must sign some players to fill the empty spaces.
Inter, Napoli, Juventus, and even Roma have been active in the transfer market to boost their teams and have great potential to win the Scudetto. The defending champions have secured just two signings so far. Divock Origi, free signings from Liverpool and the loan deal of Alessandro Florenzi permanent have been the only moves of Milan in the transfer window.
Milan have been linked to several players but the potential deals that could go through could be:
Charles De Ketelaere
The 21-year-old is reportedly the prime target for Milan with negotiations in the advanced stage. The Belgian attacker is an academy product of Club Brugge, and had his major breakthrough last season. Playing as a center-forward/secondary striker, Charles was incredibly effective for the Belgian club. He made 49 appearances in all competitions, scoring 18 goals and providing 10 assists. Ketelaere was edging towards a move to Leeds United, however, the Italian side have made better progress in the deal. The transfer is reportedly on hold due to the final transfer fee.
Hakim Ziyech
The rumors of a Chelsea winger were rife for a long time and AC Milan is reportedly ready with an offer for Ziyech. Hakim is looking to leave Stamford Bridge this summer after getting less playing time than expected at the club, and even Chelsea are open to his exit. However, it remains a mystery if it is on a permanent deal or on loan.
Japhet Tanganga
The Italian champions are in talks with the defender over a potential loan move to Milan. Pioli is looking for a center-back after losing club captain Romagnoli on a free deal earlier in the window. The Tottenham Hotspur defender is reported to be out of the plans of Spurs’ manager Antonio Conte ahead of the new season and Tanganga as a result is looking for a new club. Milan are now planning an initial loan deal with an option to buy which could be a great deal for all parties involved.
