Abhishek Sharma Smashes Joint Fastest Hundred T20 Hundred In SMAT 2024, Levels Urvil Patel’s Record

Indian batter Abhishek Sharma smashed the joint fastest hundred by an Indian in T20 cricket and levelled Gujarat batter Urvil Patel's record.

Indian batter Abhishek Sharma has showcased a lot of prowess especially in the T20I format for the Indian national cricket team. The latter has performed brilliantly with his fearless hitting ability while opening the innings. However, the last few T20I innings hasn’t justified Abhishek’s talent in T20I cricket as he hasn’t batted the way he was known to be. Abhishek is currently representing Punjab in India’s domestic T20 competition Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy. The latter once again what he can do during the SMAT match against Meghalaya.

Abhishek Sharma Levels Urvil Patel’s Record Of Fastest T20 Century By An Indian

Abhishek Sharma smashed the joint highest hundred in T20s by an India and reached the three-figure mark in just 28 balls. Abhishek played an innings 106* runs from 29 balls which included eight fours and 11 sixes. Abhishek batted with a strike rate of 365.52 and he will be looking forward to perform the same while playing for the Indian team as well. Abhishek matched, Gujarat batter Urvil Patel’s record who just achieved the milestone earlier in the present edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy.

Batting first, Meghalaya were restricted for a score of 142/7 wherein wicket-keeper batter Arpit Bhatewara was the highest run-scorer and played an innings of 31 runs from 31 balls. Punjab showcased a complete team effort wherein all the bowlers contributed with wickets and didn’t allow the Meghalaya batters to score much runs. Chasing down the target, Punjab didn’t start off well when they lost the first wicket in the form of Harnoor Singh Pannu. However, Abhishek Sharma didn’t stop his attack and continued to hit fours and sixes from the other hand. In the end, Punjab chased down the target in 9.3 overs.
