Abhishek Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Smriti Mandhana among ICC Player of the Month nominees for September

ICC announces September’s Player of the Month nominees: Abhishek Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Smriti Mandhana headline the list. Zimbabwe’s Brian Bennett, Pakistan’s Sidra Ameen, and South Africa’s Tazmin Brits also feature. Fans can vote now to support their favourites.

The ICC has announced the Player of the Month nominees for September, with Indian stars Abhishek Sharma, Kuldeep Yadav, and Smriti Mandhana making it to the shortlist thanks to their standout performances in recent international matches.

Men’s Player of the Month Nominees:

Abhishek Sharma (India)

The young Indian opener had a brilliant Asia Cup campaign, scoring 314 runs in 7 matches at an explosive strike rate of 200 and an average of 44.85. He was a key player in India’s success and even topped the ICC Men’s T20I Batting Rankings with 931 rating points – the highest ever.

Kuldeep Yadav (India)

India’s left-arm wrist-spinner was a game-changer in the Asia Cup, picking up 17 wickets in 7 matches at a stunning average of 9.29 and an economy of 6.27. His best performance came in the final against Pakistan, where he grabbed 4 for 30.

Brian Bennett (Zimbabwe)

The 21-year-old Zimbabwean batter had a fantastic run in T20Is, scoring 497 runs in 9 games at an average of 55.22 and a strike rate of 165.66. He dominated series against Sri Lanka and Namibia and impressed in the Africa Qualifiers for the 2026 T20 World Cup with scores of 72, 65, and 111.

Women’s Player of the Month Nominees:

Smriti Mandhana (India)

India’s vice-captain was in top form during the home ODI series against Australia. She scored 308 runs in 4 matches at an average of 77 and a strike rate of 135.68. Her knock of 125 off just 50 balls was the fastest century by an Indian woman in ODIs.

Sidra Ameen (Pakistan)

Sidra had a dream run in the ODI series against South Africa, scoring 293 runs in 3 matches without getting out even once. Her scores of 121, 122, and 50** gave her an incredible average of 293 for the series.

Tazmin Brits (South Africa)

Despite playing only two matches in the same series, Brits made a massive impact. She scored 101 and 171 in back-to-back games and was named Player of the Series as South Africa secured a 2-1 series win.

How the Voting Works:

The ICC Player of the Month winners are chosen through a combination of expert opinion and fan votes.

  • 90% of the vote comes from the ICC Voting Academy, which includes former players, journalists, and broadcasters.
  • 10% comes from fans, who can vote online at icc-cricket.com/awards.

Winners will be announced in the second week of October on ICC’s digital platforms.
