Will Miss The 10,000 Run Mark

After the sudden announcement of Indian skipper, Rohit Sharma from the Red Ball format shortly after him being not elected as the captain for further Test series beginning with the June cycle of India Vs England series, Virat Kohli has shown his intention to call it a quit from the Test format as well. This news has proved to be very shocking as Kohli was seen in a good form from in the T20 format during his leg in this IPL. He also won the Orange Cap once in this season which is given for scoring highest runs in a season. But seems like Kohli would make a big mistake if he announces his retirement this year. Kohli currently have 9230 runs and is nearing the 10,000 mark which he would probably put in the bag for himself.

Opportunity To Surpass Younis Khan

If Kohli announces retirement he would miss the opportunity to outshine cricket legends like Kane Williamson, Graeme Smith and Younis Khan. Khan ahs breached the 10,000 run mark by scoring 10,099 runs in 213 innings while Kohli stands at 9230 in 205 innings and if he choose to opt out from the England series he will miss a potential opportunity to outshine the Pakistani cricketer.

Rohit Sharma holds the record for scoring most runs for India in the World Test Championship. Sharma has managed to score 2716 while Virat Kohli has smashed 2617 and if Kohli would announce his retirement then the pride of the record for most runs in WTC for India would still be resting with Rohit Sharma. Rohit has recently announced his retirement from Test as well shortly after he was not elected as the skipper for the side on the Red Ball format.
