Numerous reports indicate that Manchester United is seriously contemplating acquiring Bayern Munich center-back Matthijs de Ligt. Widely recognized as Bayern Munich's top defender over his two seasons with the club, De Ligt has unexpectedly become unwelcome in Bavaria due to his high salary and head coach Vincent Kompany’s reported preference for other central defenders over the Dutchman. As a result, Bayern Munich might be on the verge of losing one of their best players from the past two seasons.

David Ornstein of The Athletic (reported by @iMiaSanMia) initiated the news on Friday. By Saturday, Sky Sport journalists Kerry Hau and Florian Plettenberg, along with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, also provided updates. De Ligt was enquired about his future at Euro 2024 but remained tight-lipped. Speaking in a press conference, he said: “I've already said this is not the time for me to think about it. “We're playing at the Euros now and that's very important for me and the national team. That's why I can't say now what I think about this situation. But what I can say is that I've now played my second season at Bayern - I'm very happy. For now I'm focused on the Euros and then we'll see what happens."
