BCCI Set To Announce New Team India Head Coach
The BCCI is also in the process of finalizing India’s next head coach, with Rahul Dravid’s tenure set to end after the 2024 T20 World Cup. Though no official announcement has been made, former India batter Gautam Gambhir has emerged as the leading candidate for the head coach role.
Media reports indicate that Rhodes had previously applied for the fielding coach position in 2019, but the BCCI chose to retain R Sridhar. The head coach, Ravi Shastri at the time, opted for Sridhar as the fielding coach and Bharat Arun as the bowling coach.
Another report suggests that Gambhir has agreed to BCCI’s offer to become the next Team India head coach. Gambhir reportedly had specific demands before accepting the position, but the management has approved them, and an official announcement is expected soon.
Currently, Paras Mhambrey and T Dilip serve as the bowling and fielding coaches, respectively. The report mentions that Gambhir is expected to bring his own support staff, potentially leading to changes in the team, as he advocates for selecting players based on specific formats.
