Former New Zealand and Mumbai Indians fast bowler Mitchell McClenaghan delivered a strong rebuttal to a Pakistani journalist on social media. The journalist had accused the New Zealand team of prioritizing money over national duty ahead of the 2024 T20 World Cup. New Zealand faces potential elimination from the ongoing T20 World Cup after consecutive losses to Afghanistan and hosts West Indies. McClenaghan responded by highlighting Pakistan’s own poor form and recent defeats.

Pakistan Journalist Get Fitting Comeback

True to his Twitter persona, McClenaghan pointed out that Pakistan is also on the brink of being knocked out of the tournament. Pakistan has struggled in the T20 World Cup, losing to both the USA and India. Prior to the tournament, Pakistan had drawn a T20I series against a New Zealand team missing its key players, which McClenaghan noted.

Additionally, McClenaghan agreed with a comment praising Sherfane Rutherford’s performance, despite him not playing a single game for Kolkata Knight Riders in IPL 2024. New Zealand stars Rachin Ravindra, Daryl Mitchell, Mitchell Santner, Trent Boult, Lockie Ferguson, Glenn Phillips, and captain Kane Williamson all participated in IPL 2024.

The Black Caps have performed poorly in the 2024 T20 World Cup, getting bowled out for 75 by Afghanistan and then failing to chase 150 against West Indies, leaving them virtually out of the tournament with two games remaining.
