Playing for New Road in Worcester, the 14-year-old sensation broke the record to become the quickest player to score a hundred in youth ODI cricket by reaching the mark in only 52 balls. Opening for India U19 in a high-stakes match, Suryavanshi demonstrated an unusual blend of aggression, timing, and maturity way ahead of his age group.

He raised his half-century in 24 balls and had 28 more to raise his bat for a record ton. He scored his century off the fourth ball of the 19th over, which was bowled by England spinner Ralphie Albert. In reaching the milestone, Suryavanshi had hit 10 fours and 7 sixes, sending fans and teammates into a frenzy.

This explosive hit broke Pakistan’s Qasim Akram’s earlier record, who had a 63-ball hundred in February 2022 while playing against Sri Lanka U19. Among Indians, the last fastest youth ODI century was achieved by Raj Angad Bawa, who reached the milestone in 69 balls while playing against Uganda in the 2022 U19 World Cup.

Born in Bihar and now under the Rajasthan Royals development system in the IPL, Suryavanshi has been in marvelous touch during the England series. He made a dramatic entry with his blistering 48 off 19 balls in the opening ODI, followed by a good 45 of 34 in the second one.

At Northampton in the third ODI on July 2, he improved upon that with an unbeaten 86 off just 31 balls, lacing the boundaries with six fours and nine sixes. His displays have increasingly made heads turn, and this record-breaking century is a statement of intent – India might just have discovered its next cricketing icon.

At just 14, Vaibhav Suryavanshi isn’t just breaking records – he’s redefining what’s possible at this level.
