According to Drik Panchang, Diwali puja should be done at an appropriate muhurat while considering fixed Lagna, Pradosh time and Amavasya Tithi. It should be taken care that the diya lit during Diwali puja continues to light throughout the night. After puja, devotees are suggested to read Shri-Sukta, Lakshmi-Sukta and other Stutis of Shri Lakshmi.
