Dhanteras 2025: Dhanteras, also known as Dhanatrayodashi, which marks the beginning of the five-day Diwali festival will be celebrated on Saturday, October 18. Considered one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu Calendar, Dhanteras is dedicated to Lord Dhanvantari, the god of health and healing, and Goddess Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth and prosperity.
Celebrated with great enthusiasm across India, Dhanteras is marked by rituals, lighting of lamps, and buying of gold, silver, and utensils as symbols of good fortune and prosperity ahead of Diwali. Devotees participate in various religious rituals, paying homage to Lord Kuber, Lord Dhanvantari, and Goddess Lakshmi. According to Drik Panchang, the auspicious Dhanteras puja muhurat will last for 1 hour and 4 minutes, from 7:16 pm to 8:20 pm on Saturday, October 18. The Pradosh Kaal, which is considered highly favourable for the puja will fall between 5:48 pm and 8:20 pm, while the Vrishabha Kaal will span from 7:16 pm to 9:11 pm. On the same day, Yama Deepam is also observed. Notably, the best time for Lakshmi Puja on Dhanteras is considered to be during Pradosh Kaal when Sthir Lagna prevails.
