Chhath Puja 2025: The third day of the Chhath festival, known as Sandhya Arghya is observed by devotees on Monday, October 27. On this day, Arghya (offering) is made to the Sun in the evening, which is considered an important ritual. The festival dedicated to worshipping Lord Surya, the Sun God, and Chhathi Maiya includes fasting, several rituals, and prayers to seek health, prosperity, and well-being for the entire family. Chhath Puja is celebrated primarily in Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh, and parts of Nepal.
The fast on the third day begins after consuming Prasad on the second day. A full-day fast without water is observed on the main third day of Chhath Puja. The main ritual on this day is offering Arghya to the setting Sun. It is the only time of the year when Arghya is given to the setting Sun. The fasting continues throughout the night making this the most important day of the four-day long festival.
