Bhai Dooj 2022: Another festival of brothers and sisters is here. This festival has a unique importance in addition to Raksha Bandhan. With so many events associated with Deepawali, it might be difficult to resist getting carried away. In Hindu culture, this day is celebrated for ages and it is still an ongoing festival. But, this year the festival has come up with some confusion.

On the second day of Shukla Paksha of Kartik month, Bhai Dooj is celebrated. It is also known as Yama Dwitiya. Lord Chitragupta is also honoured on this day. This year, it’s difficult to predict when Bhai Dooj and other significant holidays will fall.

Bhai Dooj 2022: Date

According to the Hindu calendar, the second day of Shukla Paksha, or Ashwin month, will start at 2:42 pm on October 26 and finish at 12:45 pm on October 27. As per the reports, Bhai Dooj is observed on October 26, 2022, as this is a lucky day for Bhai Dooj’s devotion. However, depending on the date of birth, Bhai Dooj might also be observed on October 27, 2022.

Bhai Dooj 2022: Puja Mahurat

The Puja Muhurat happens on October 26, 2022, from 01:18 pm to 03:33 pm, lasting 2 hours and 15 minutes.

Significance

Bhai Dooj is celebrated annually on the second day of Kartik Shukla Paksha. On this day, sisters wish their brothers a long life and prosperity by applying tilak to their foreheads and engaging in other rituals including fasting, puja, and Katha.

In return, brothers give presents and make a commitment to protect their sisters always. It is said that in addition to performing worship on Bhai Dooj, one should also read or listen to the Vrat Katha.

On this day, the sisters wish their brothers a long life. The Bhai Dooj festival honours a sister’s unwavering devotion to and affection for her brother.
