As 2025 draws to a close, the year has also witnessed the loss of several prominent political figures. While they may no longer be with us, their legacy and contributions continue to live on in our memories. In 2025, notable politicians, including three former Chief Ministers and two Governors, passed away. 1. Former Gujarat CM Vijay Rupani On June 12, Vijay Rupani tragically died in the Air India Flight 171 crash near Ahmedabad, which claimed 241 lives. Rupani served as Gujarat’s Chief Minister twice between 2014 and 2021.

2. Former Jharkhand CM Shibu Soren Shibu Soren, the founder of Jharkhand Mukti Morcha and three-time Chief Minister of Jharkhand, passed away on August 4 after a prolonged illness. He played a key role in the creation of Jharkhand from Bihar.

3. Former Goa CM Ravi Naik Ravi S. Naik, former Chief Minister of Goa, died of cardiac arrest on October 14. He served as Goa’s fourth and sixth Chief Minister, with his first term lasting over two years.
