Kota in Rajasthan has become India’s first completely traffic light-free city through ring roads, flyovers and underpasses that ensure nonstop movement. The redesign has reduced congestion, travel time, accidents and fuel use, setting a model for smart urban planning in other cities. Scroll down to know all about it.

Kota in Rajasthan has become the first city in India to operate completely without traffic signals, marking a major milestone in urban planning.

Long famous for its coaching institutes, Kota now adds a new identity by transforming its traffic management system.

The Urban Improvement Trust (UIT) led the project with the aim of creating a city where vehicles move without stoppages.

A system of interconnected ring roads allows vehicles to bypass busy intersections, reducing congestion across the city.

More than two dozen flyovers and underpasses have been built at major junctions to ensure nonstop movement.

The new traffic system has resulted in fewer accidents and reduced fuel consumption, making travel safer and more efficient.

Kota’s success is now seen as an example for other Indian cities dealing with traffic jams and long wait times at signals.
