From PCO Booths to 3G Dongles: Things from 2000s that don’t exist anymore- In PICS

Remember the days when making a simple phone call meant walking to a PCO? We live in an age of technology today, where machines handle almost everything. But not long ago, life was far simpler. Talk to your elders, and they’ll share memories of PCOs, old telephones, and the first mobile phones, showing how people managed without modern gadgets.

The old, bulky Nokia mobile phones were often the first phone in almost every Indian household.

Back then, STD, ISD, and local PCO booths could be seen along streets everywhere.

Today, recharging a mobile phone is extremely easy, but in the past, people had to buy a recharge card from a shop, scratch it with a coin, and enter the 16-digit number to top up their phone.

These old mobile phones were considered a luxury at the time and were a dream for many.

Old model telephones were also difficult to use, with dialing numbers being a challenge.

For high-speed and wireless internet, 3G dongles were commonly used. (All image credits: Instagram/@department_of_telecom)
