The Mehrangarh Fort stands as a symbol of Rajathan's rich heritage and pride. Here are some of the facts that you should be aware of before visiting the Jodhpur's royal Mehrangarh Fort.

1- The royal Mehrangarh Fort is perfectly built on a cliff and is situated at 112 m (400 feet) above the city. The fort has earned the title of "The Citadel of the Sun." The structure of the fort, beyond the blue city, seems to be emerging naturally from the stone.

2- This royal fort of Jodhpur is about 36 meters high. 21-meter-wide walls were built in oder to protect the fort from their enemy's powerful attack. You can also find the cannonball imprints from past battles still visible at the Dedh Kangra Pol (one of the main gates).

3- The Mehrangarh Fort also reveals its royal past by possesses notable elements like miniature paintings, artifacts, armors, costumes, and royal palanquins. This is one of the most well-structured museums. Moreover, there are historians from all over the globe come to study it.

4- A legendary man named Raja Ram Meghwal sacrificed his life as he was buried alive in the foundation. This was especially done to break a curse and ensure the fort's stability. His sacrifice is commemorated by a small temple near the fort’s entrance.

5- The breathtaking structure of the Mehrangarh Fort made it serve as a strong pillar in some of the movies like "The Jungle Book" (1994) and "The Dark Knight Rises" (2012), and also in Bollywood blockbusters like "Rang De Basanti."

6- The fort is successfully currently operated by the Mehrangarh Museum Trust, which was established by Maharaja Gaj Singh II, and is administered by Jodhpur's royal family.
