While delivering his victory speech in Florida, Donald Trump vowed to heal America. Political analysts were stunned. The man who refused to acknowledge his electoral loss four years ago and allegedly instigated his supporters to storm and vandalise Capitol Hill, has shown the magnanimity of taking everyone along with him and healing the wounds of the nation, that was divided during the keenly contested presidential election campaign.
Has Donald Trump Learned Lessons?
This is Donald Trump, who appears to have learned a lesson and become magnanimous in his victory. A few months ago, when he was shot at in Pennsylvania on the election campaign trail, he clenched his fist and raised it, asking his supporters to continue the fight. It helped him in the election immensely and he emerged victorious unexpectedly.
One can remember how the Republican candidate became the first former US President to be convicted of felony charges, but he presented himself as a victim and once again vowed to fight back and make America Great Again. These two examples show how Trump can turn adversity into an opportunity.
Honing Leadership Skills
Donald Trump got the opportunity to hone their leadership skills as early as in 1959 when he went to the military academy to get military training that helped shape his leadership skills. However, he did not join the Vietnam War as he sat out due to deferments, four years for academic reasons and one because of bone spurs.
Donald Trump got a degree from the University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School before succeeding his father in the family business.
How Did Trump Become Business Tycoon?
Through his hard work or exploiting the loopholes in the US Taxation and business system, as claimed by his detractors and opponents, Trump soon spun a successful business empire. He became so successful that he financially supported Kamala Harris’s contest for the office of the New York Attorney General.
Trump Makes Ultra-Nationalism Election Campaign
When the billionaire business tycoon got the Republican ticket to fight the US Presidential Election in 2016, he chose the ultra-nationalist plank to gather support from the masses, scattered in villages and suburban areas.
He raised the slogans of ‘America First’ and ‘Make America Great Again’ on the premises that the country had lost its old glory due to the faulty policies of the Democrats and that he would regain the lost glory by adopting conservative policies like protectionism.
Trump Adopts Protectionism
After becoming US President Donald Trump adopted the policy of protectionism and imposed increased tariffs on many imports, but he failed to Make America Great Again, he could not revive the economy.
Protectionism Proves Counterproductive
It is ironic that his protectionist policies caused the U.S. steel industry to cut 75,000 jobs, and Michigan’s auto industry to sack 4,000 of its employees by 2019. The increased tariffs on steel and aluminum, and trade instability led multinational companies to lay off workers.
The policies adopted by Donald Trump were detrimental that the U.S. Steel and Kennametal in Pennsylvania, and General Motors in Michigan, shut down parts of their factories, and major coal company Murray Energy filed for bankruptcy.
Black Lives Matter Movement
The white supremacists were encouraged while Donald Trump was the US President and attacks on the Black increased.
After 46-year-old black American man, George Floyd was murdered in Minneapolis by 44-year-old white police officer Derek Chauvin, Black Lives Matter movement started. More than 6,000 demonstrations were held across the country.
Convicted For Felony
The person who married three times and has been living with a wife who has been a model was accused of taking the services of a porn star, paid her to hide the fact and committed a felony to hide that he bribed her to keep silent.
Donald Trump has three children, Donald Trump Jr, Ivanka, and Eric from her first wife, Ivana. He has a daughter, Tiffany with his second wife, Marla Maples and son Barron with his third wife Melania.
Will Donald Trump emerge as a new person, leaving behind him conservative policies of protectionism, and baggage of sympathy for white supremacists? Will he heal America, usher his country to a new path, and Make America Great Again?
