UPSC Success Story: Who Is IAS Pratiksha Singh? The Woman Who Chose To Transfer From Bihar To UP Because…

Pratiksha Singh is a 2023 batch IAS officer. She was posted in Buxar on 15 April, 2024, but she has got herself transferred from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh Cadre. She had sought the transfer which was approved.

IAS officer Pratiksha Singh is making headlines for changing her cadre from Bihar to Uttar Pradesh. She was posted as Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) in Buxar district of Bihar as a probationary officer. However, she has now been transferred to the Uttar Pradesh cadre.

Why Did She Seek A Transfer?

Pratiksha Singh is a 2023 batch IAS officer. She was posted in Buxar on April 15, 2024, but she has been transferred from the Bihar cadre to the Uttar Pradesh cadre. She had requested the transfer, which was approved. According to media reports, her husband is also an IPS officer in the Uttar Pradesh cadre, which is why she sought the transfer.

Pratiksha’s Journey

Pratiksha hails from Prayagraj district of Uttar Pradesh and her family resides in Sahibabad, Ghaziadbad. Her father is a teacher and mother is a housewife. Pratiksha’s brother is a software engineer. She was posted as SDM in Shamli, when the results of UPSC CSE were declared in May 2023.

She had become Deputy collector in 2020. During one of her interviews, Pratiksha had mentioned that it was her dream to become IAS officer from the beginning. After completing her Masters in 2019, she had started preparing for Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. She had passed pre and main exams in 2020, but couldn’t clear the interview. In 2021, she couldn’t clear the UPSC prelims, but passed UPPSC PCS exam and secured 7th rank. Following her result, she became a Deputy Collector in the Uttar Pradesh Government.

She became a Deputy Collector in 2020. In one of her interviews, Pratiksha mentioned that it had always been her dream to become an IAS officer. After completing her Master’s degree in 2019, she began preparing for the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exams. She passed the prelims and mains in 2020 but couldn’t clear the interview. In 2021, she failed the UPSC prelims but passed the UPPSC PCS exam and secured 7th rank. Following this achievement, she became a Deputy Collector in the Uttar Pradesh Government.

However, Pratiksha didn’t stop there, and her journey to success continued when she cleared the UPSC exams in 2022. Despite failing in two attempts, she didn’t give up on her dream of becoming an IAS officer. Her selection in the UPPSC PCS exam boosted her morale, and she began preparing for the UPSC exam. Pratiksha’s hard work paid off when she secured the 52nd rank in the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam.
