Success Story: The Inspiring Journey Of B Abdul Nasar

Nasar hails from Thalasseri in Kannur district of Kerala. At the age of just 5, he and his siblings had to live in an orphanage after their father passed away, while his mother worked as a domestic help to support the family. Despite all the hardships, Nasar completed his schooling while spending 13 years in the orphanage. To help support his family, he worked as a cleaner and a hotel supplier at the age of 10.

B Abdul Nasar Delivered Newspapers To Support Family

He later graduated from Thalassery Government College. B Abdul Nasar continued to support his family by taking on various jobs including tutoring, working as a phone operator and even delivering newspapers.

After earning a postgraduate degree, Nasar began his career in 1994 as a government employee in the Kerala Health Department. Over time, he earned promotions and eventually became Deputy Collector in the State Civil Service by 2006. However, his journey was far from easy. His success can be attributed to his relentless efforts and his commitment to public service.

Rising Through the Ranks

In 2015, Nassar was recognised as the top Deputy Collector of Kerala, which led to his appointment as an IAS officer in 2017. Before becoming the District Collector of Kollam in 2019, he served as the Housing Commissioner for the Kerala government.

IAS Abdul Nasar’s remarkable journey stands as a source of inspiration for UPSC aspirants overcoming similar obstacles.
