Passing the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) exam is no easy feat. Many people fall victim to disappointment after one or two failures, but it is only those who refuse to give up who ultimately succeed. At just 24, Mehak Jain from Faridabad achieved an impressive All India Rank of 17 in the UPSC Civil Services Exam 2021. This remarkable success came after two previous attempts where she faced setbacks. Though both setbacks left her a little disheartened, she didn’t stay disappointed for long. Instead, they fueled her determination, empowering her to bounce back and achieve an incredible victory.
Her story is not only inspiring but also a powerful source of motivation for those on the path to achieving one of India’s most respected positions.

Mehak Jain is originally from Faridabad. Her father is a mechanical engineer working in a private company, while her mother is a housewife. Her elder sister is a Chartered Accountant (CA). After completing her primary education, Mehak pursued a B.Com degree from Hansraj College, Delhi University. She later completed her post graduation in Public Administration from Jamia Millia Islamia. She completed her schooling at St. Peter’s School, Faridabad.
Becoming an IAS officer was her dream. Unfortunately, she did not succeed in her first two attempts. However, she identified the shortcomings that led to her failure and worked on them continuously and tirelessly.
To improve, she dedicated herself to solving previous years’ question papers and practiced writing mock tests daily. This made her to secure 17th rank in the Civil Services Examination of the year 2021. After successfully clearing the UPSC exam, Mehak Jain was allocated the Gujarat cadre and serves as an Indian Administrative Service (IAS) officer in the state.
