BJP leader Devendra Fadnavis is unanimously elected to the post of Maharashtra CM. He will take oath on Thursday, December 5, 2024. The event will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Maharashtra held the election in a single phase on November 20, 2024. The results of Maharashtra elections was out on November 23, 2024. After a long suspense on Maharashtra CM post, the CM face is now out. The oath taking ceremony of the new Mahayuti government will take place on December 5.
The Mahayuti alliance secured 230 seats out of 288 in the election, whereas the Maha Vikas Aghadi failed to reach the majority mark.
Devendra Fadnavis’ Political Journey
From being a BJP leader to becoming the CM of Maharashtra, Devendra Fadnavis has crossed many benchmarks in his political carrier.
Devendra Fadnavis is a well-known figure in Maharashtra politics. He started his political journey at very young age. He was part of Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad in his initial days in politics. At the age of 22 Fadnavis became the councillor. He won six times continuously from the Nagpur South West seat in Maharashtra.
Devendra Fadnavis became the Mayor of Nagpur at age of 27, becoming the youngest Mayor of Nagpur. During the time of Emergency in the country, Devendra Fadnavis’s father Gangadharrao Fadnavis, was jailed for opposing the then government. After this Fadnavis refused to attend school at Indira Convent.
Devendra Fadnavis pursued law during his graduation days. In 2014 he became the Chief Minister of Maharashtra. He also served as the Deputy CM of Maharashtra during the collation government with Eknath Shinde in 2022.
