The 2025 Bihar election results are getting more interesting as the lead and trail figures slowly come in. What makes this election even more engaging is the presence of a few stars whose campaigns drew a lot of attention. Several celebrities have contested this time. Artists from Bollywood, regional cinema, and singers have stepped into politics. Here is a look at the stars who entered the election race.
Khesari Lal Yadav
Bhojpuri film star Khesari Lal Yadav contested from Chapra as the RJD candidate. His main opponent was the BJP’s Chotti Kumari. Khesari Lal Yadav, whose real name is Shatrughan Yadav, is 39 years old and has studied up to Class 10. According to data on MyNeta, he has one case registered against him. However, Chotti Kumari doesn’t have any criminal cases against her.
The battle between BJP’s Chhoti Kumari and RJD’s Khesari Lal Yadav has, thus far, been a close one, with the saffron party’s candidate leading by a slim margin of 974 votes.
Maithili Thakur
Singer and actress Maithili Thakur also made her entry into politics through the BJP in Bihar politics. Born on 25 July 2000, Maithili Thakur hails from Benipatti in Bihar’s Madhubani district. Coming from a family deeply connected to music, it was natural for her to follow the same path. Her father, Ramesh Thakur, is a music teacher, and Maithili, along with her two brothers, learned the art of music under the guidance of their father and grandfather. Right from childhood, Maithili was trained in both folk and Indian classical music. Growing up in a culturally rich region helped her develop a deep understanding of traditional music forms that are now a big part of her identity.
As of 12:30 pm, Alinagar is witnessing an anticipated but one-sided battle between BJP leader Maithili Thakur and RJD leader Binod Mishra. It is also a battle between generations here as Thakur, who is 25 years old, seeks to defeat 63-year-old Mishra and vice versa.
Rithesh Pandey
Ritesh Pandey comes from a modest background. After scoring 72% marks in intermediate exams, his parents wanted him to move to Kota to prepare for medical entrance. However, Ritesh’s true passion lay in music. Defying family expectations, he chose to pursue singing and began performing at small local events, according to people close to him. He is contesting on Prashant Kishor’s Jan Suraaj Party ticket in Kargahar assembly seat. As of 12:45 pm, JD(U) candidate Bashisth Singh leads in Kargahar, with INC’s Santosh Kumar Mishra in second place.
