She pioneered women’s groups before taking the position as Aligarh Muslim University’s first woman Chancellor at a prestigious Indian institution during 1920.

During her 25-year rule she decided to transfer power to her son while she dedicated her later years to supporting education and welfare programs for women. The passing of this influential woman during 1930 did not diminish her enduring impact on generations that followed.
