Yogi Govt suspends IPS officer who said Yadavs being targeted

Lucknow: The Yogi Adityanath government in UP suspended senior IPS officer Himanshu Kumar on Saturday. "Indiscipline" was cited as the reason for his suspension.

UP Police had ordered a probe earlier after Kumatr had tweeted that the new UP government was targeting cops with Yadav surname. He had even tagged CM's office in his tweets.

After the controversy erupted over his tweets, the IPS officer tweeted to say that his earlier tweets had been misunderstood.

Kumar, a 2010-batch IPS, was removed as SP, Firozabad, soon after the UP polls, and was attached to DGP headquarters in Lucknow. Kumar is on medical leave currently.

Kumar came into limelight last July when he had filed a a case against his estranged wife, Priya Singh, in Noida. The IPS officer had alleged that Priya had hacked his emails to get bank statements and personal details.
