New Delhi, June 15: Ahead of International Yoga Day on June 21, Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) performed ‘Yoga’ at an altitude of 18,000 feet in Jammu and Kashmir’s Ladakh on Friday.

In the backdrop of snow-covered Himalayas, the security personnel performed several Yoga asanas, including ‘Surya Namaskar’.

A video shared from the official account of Indo-Tibetan Border Police shows the "Himveers"  performing suryanamaskaar, pranayama and meditation in rhythm and with great discipline.

The Indo-Tibetan Border Police has been tweeting about the preparations for Yoga Day from various other high-altitude locations.

The first International Day of Yoga was observed all over the world on June 21, 2015 where more than 35,000 people, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi performed 21 yoga asanas for at Rajpath in New Delhi along with other dignitaries.

This year, Ranchi in Jharkhand will be the venue for the main event for International Yoga Day on June 21 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend it.

Meanwhile, ahead of the International Yoga Day Prime Minister Narendra Modi is tweeting videos of his animated version performing several asanas that have multiple benefits.

This year the theme of  World Yoga Day is 'Yoga for Heart' and the event will be held at the Prabhat Tara ground and around 30,000 people are expected to participate in it.
