Washington: US celebrity Mary Millben mourned the persecution and forced migration of Kashmiri Hindus from Jammu and Kashmir on the 31st anniversary of the painful event on Friday.
In a moving message on social media platform Twitter, Mary Millben expressed grief and condolences for the affected families.
'Religious persecution continues around the world. Today we remember the horrors of Exodus Day. When the Kashmiri Pandits had to flee due to genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kashmir by Islamic terrorists. My prayers are with the Kashmiri Pandit community as many still mourn the loss of their loved ones, homes and cultural presence," Mary Millben wrote on Twitter.
She said that as a global figure, she will always support religious freedom as a global policy, which is essential to protect any religion.
"The persecution of Christians, anti-Semitism, hatred of Jews, genocide against Hindus and others continues to this day. I challenge Americans and global citizens not to be indifferent to these evils," Mary Millben wrote.
Mary Millben is popular in India and among Indian-Americans after singing India's national anthem and devotional song 'Om Jai Jagdish Hare'.
