Washington,( Diksha Kumari): Amid the ongoing trade deadlock between the US and China, the chief of Tibet’s exiled government, Dr Lobsang Sangay, has visited the White House.
According to the Times Of India, on Friday, Dr. Sangay met Robert Destro, the newly appointed coordinator of Tibet affairs at the White House.
This is the first official US visit in the last six decades by a leader of Tibet’s exiled government.
The newspaper says that this move by the US may cause further tension in the already existing relations with China.
According to experts, this is a historic step for the Central Tibetan administration (CTA) as it recognizes both democratic system of the CTA and its political chief.
The headquarters of the Central Tibetan Administration (CTA) is located in Dharmshala, Himachal Pradesh, India.
A CTA spokesman said,- ‘We are delighted that the two democracies are recognizing each other. The reception of the CTA and its leader in the white House can be a good start. Hopefully, in the coming years, the CTA with the US authorities The positive trend of the partner will increase.
