New Delhi: An important meeting of leaders of the QUAD countries is scheduled to be held today. Apart from US President Joe Biden, PM Narendra Modi, Australian PM Scott Morrison and PM Yoshihide Suga of Japan will participate in the meeting.
In this virtual meeting, there will be discussions on freeing the Indian Pacific region from Chinese influence. Apart from this, there will also be discussions over problems arising in the wake of the coronavirus pandemic and its diagnosis and climate change. But it is believed that the most important issue may be of China.
This will be PM Modi's first meeting with US President Joe Biden after the US Elections. Earlier, PM Modi has had a virtual meeting with Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga and Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison. PM Modi has communicated via telephone with Joe Biden earlier.

The meaning of QUAD is 'Quadrilateral Security Dialogue'. This alliance includes India, Japan, Australia and the US. The aim of the QUAD is to restore peace and power and maintain balance in the Asia-Pacific region.
The QUAD was proposed in 2007 by Shinzo Abe, the then Prime Minister of Japan. The proposal was supported by India, US and Australia. After this, the first meeting of the foreign ministers of all these countries was held in the year 2019.
