Kathmandu: Even as the entire world struggles with the havoc caused by the coronavirus pandemic, China, which created the COVID-19 virus - also known as the Chinese virus - is busy seizing the land of its neighbors.
China has taken illegal possession of land in several districts of Nepal in recent weeks. This has led to much anger in Nepal against the Chinese.
Thousands of Nepali youths have staged demonstrations at the Chinese embassy in Baluwatar, Kathmandu and have raised slogans of 'China Go Back'.
A large number of Nepali youth took to the streets in Kathmandu on Wednesday against China, demanding that the Chinese must return Nepal's land. They also displayed posters saying 'stop border encroachment'.
A large number of security personnel were deployed around the Chinese embassy in Katmandu, who prevented the protesters from going further. But the youth stayed there and shouted slogans against China.
China has grabbed Nepal's land
According to a recently published news, China has constructed several buildings inside Nepali territory in Lalungajam area of Namkha village municipality-6 of Humla. Refuting the news, China said that the place where the buildings have been constructed is on the Chinese side of the border.
Wang Xia Oolong, the spokesman for the Chinese embassy in Kathmandu, said that China has evidence and supporting documents that back up its claim that the land belongs to China.
A team led by Humla Chief District Officer Chiranjeevi Giri visited the site after news came to light about the encroachment of the Nepali region by the Chinese. In the meeting between officials from Nepal and China, the Chinese side claimed that the disputed land belonged to China.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Party (RPP) president Kamal Thapa has demanded that China should withdraw its military forces from the disputed area in Humla.
Posting a Twitter message, Thapa said that China should withdraw its security forces from the disputed area and the Nepal government should also make the details public immediately.
