Jakarta: A big news has surfaced from Indonesia, where a plane crashed. The aircraft had 62 people, including crew members.
Turkey's Foreign Ministry has confirmed 62 casualties in the plane crash. The plane was going from Indonesia's capital Jakarta to the city of Pontiac. The Ministry of External Affairs has expressed grief over the death of the passengers. According to the information, the accident occurred shortly after the plane took off. The search is underway by the Indonesian Navy.
Transport Minister Budi Karia Sumadi said that flight SJ182 was delayed by one hour before taking off at 2:36 pm. The pilot said that four minutes later the aircraft disappeared from the radar, climbing to an altitude of 29,000 feet and the pilot approached air traffic control.
Tracking service Flightradar24 said the aircraft lost more than 10,000 feet of elevation in less than a minute. A statement issued by the airline said the plane was on a 90-minute flight from Jakarta, the capital of West Kalimantan province, on the island of Borneo, Indonesia. There were 56 passengers and six crew members aboard the ship.
Local media reports said the fishermen were believed to be part of parts of an aircraft in the Thousand Islands on Saturday afternoon in the Thousand Islands, a chain of islands north of Jakarta. Irawati said that a search and rescue operation was going on in coordination with the National Search and Rescue Agency and the National Transport Safety Committee.
