Ottawa (Canada): Canada's lower house, the House of Commons, voted to declare China guilty of the genocide of more than 1 million Uygur Muslims in western Xinjiang province, but Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and members of his cabinet did not attend.

In support of the motion presented in the lower house on Monday, 266 votes were cast and not a single vote was cast against it, but Trudeau and his cabinet did not participate in the vote. The proposal calls for the International Olympic Committee to remove the 2022 Winter Olympics from Beijing.

A senior government official said the Canadian foreign minister would explain the government's stand on the issue. He said that declaring something in the Parliament will not lead to substantial results in China and that there is a need to work with international partners and partners.

The main opposition parties have welcomed the proposal. Opposition parties have more seats in the lower house. Trudeau's cabinet has 37 'Liberal MPs joining him. Trudeau's Liberal Party has 154 MPs in the lower house. The leader of the opposition Conservative Party, Erin O'Toole, has said that it is necessary to send a message to the Chinese regime.

The vote is a recent attempt to hold China responsible for the atrocities on Uygur Muslims and other minorities. However, China has denied these allegations. It has emphasized that these steps were taken against the fight against terrorism and against the separatist movement.
