New Delhi, Oct 8, News24 Bureau: There is a major outcry in Gujarat following the rape of the innocent 14-months-old toddler by a 19-year-old from Bihar who was working as a migrant worker in a ceramic factory in a Gujarat village near Himmatnagar town.
Because of this Gujarat now sees mass exodus of migrant workers as violent mobs are attacking 'north Indians' specially from Bihar and Uttar Pradesh, following arrest of Bihar man for raping toddler.
"It is our responsibility to provide security to those who come to Gujarat for employment from other states . We are in touch with the Central government. We have submitted a report to the central govt regarding every incident," said Gujarat Home Minister Pradeepsinh Jadeja.
Allegedly a worker from Bihar raped 14-month-old girl on Sep 28.
The man was identified as Ravindra Sahu hailing from Bihar and was arrested the same day and charged with the toddler's rape.
Congress leader Alpesh Thakor, who heads Thakor Sena in Gujarat, has been accused of fanning violence against the migrant workers.
However, Alpesh Thakor denied the allegations and appealed for peace saying, “This is unfortunate. We have never advocated violence and only talked peace. All Indians are safe in Gujarat”.
On Saturday, Gujarat Deputy Chief Minister Nitin Patel said that he has written to Chief Justice R Subhash Reddy of the Gujarat High Court seeking speedy trial in the rape case of a 14-month old girl.
