New Delhi: The Budget Session 2022 of the parliament will commence on January 31. The session will continue till April 8. The session will start with the address of President Ram Nath Kovind to the joint sitting of both Houses - Rajya Sabha and Lok Sabha.
The Union Budget for the financial year 2022-2023 will be presented by Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on February 1.
"The Union Budget for 2022-23 will be laid in the Rajya Sabha after its presentation in Lok Sabha on Tuesday, February 1 at 11.00 am," a letter of Additional secretary-general of Ministry of Parliamentary Affairs Minister read.
The first part of the Budget session would conclude on February 11.
The part two of the Budget session would begin after a month on March 14 and continue till April 8.
There will be no sitting of the House on March 18 on account of Holi.
In is worth mentioning that the Budget Session of the parliament will take place amid the third wave of COVID-19 pandemic. In the last few days, there has been massive surge in coronavirus cases across the country.
Earlier this month more than 400 staff members of the parliament had tested positive for COVID-19.
The last session of the parliament, the winter session, ended on December 22, a day before its scheduled conclusion on December 23.
