New Delhi: Minister of External Affairs (MEA) Dr S Jaishankar has tested positive for COVID-19. The BJP MP, who previously served as the Foreign Secretary from January 2015 to January 2018, took to Twitter to share the news and urged everyone to exercise caution.
External Affairs Minister (EAM) Dr S Jaishankar shared a short message on Twitter, writing, "Have tested Covid positive. Urge all those who have come in recent contact to take suitable precautions."
The news comes hours after the Indian Minister for External Affairs reaffirmed the strong strategic ties between India and France and said this diplomatic relationship has matured and it is now an opportune time to take it to the next level.
Dr Jaishankar was speaking in a virtual event titled "The French Presidency: EU-India Partnership in the Indo Pacific.
According to the Ministry of Health and Family Affairs (MoHFW) Covid-19 update on Thursday morning, India logged 2,86,384 (2 lakh 86 thousand 3 hundred and 84) new coronavirus cases, and 573 deaths in the last 24 hours.
The Covid-19 test positivity rate in the last 24 hours rose sharply to 19.59 per cent against 16.16 per cent reported on Wednesday, the health ministry stated.
