This is how you should worship Mahadev on Mahashivaratri:
Wake up early in the morning on Mahashivaratri and retire from routine work. Then clean the place where you worship. After this, bathe Mahadev with Panchamrit. Then offer them three belpatra, bhaang, dhatura, jaayfal, fruits, sweets, sweet paan, perfume. Apply sandalwood tilak, then add kheer. Meditate on Lord Shiva throughout the day, praise him. Take Kheer in the form of prasad at night and also pass it to others.
