Aasif Suhaf, Srinagar: Two policemen achieved martyrdom when terrorists carried out an attack on Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) personnel at the Baghat area of Barzulla in Srinagar on Friday afternoon.
The two policemen were injured in the attack. They were admitted to the SMHS hospital in Srinagar where they later succumbed to their injuries.
An official of the Jammu and Kashmir Police (JKP) said that one of the martyred policemen was identified as constable Suhail Ahmad.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir range Vijay Kumar said that two Lashkar-e-Toiba (LeT) terrorists including a local carried out the attack and that both attackers have been identified.
The IGP said that two Lashkar-e-Toiba militants including a foreign militant and a local who has been identified as Saqib, carried out the Baghat attack.
“The two policemen were on a routine duty and were at a shop to buy something. They were fired upon from the back. They were totally unarmed,” the IGP said.
