New Delhi: The season of festivities have arrived with devotees welcoming the nine-day long festival Navratri. From preparing delicious sweets to decorating houses, devotees across the country are gearing up to celebrate the valour of maa Durga.. This year the festivals starts from October 17 and will continue till 25.
This Navratri is also called Sharadiya Navratri as it falls on sharad or autumn season. It is known by different names across different parts of the country.
During Navratrti, nine avatars of goddess Durga are worshipped with devotees fasting. Celebrations for Durga Puja start on the sixth day of Navaratri while the nine nights mark Rama’s victory over Ravana.
Around this time of the year, Ramlila is organised at various places of the country which ends with Rama killing Ravana. However, in the wake of pandemic, the festivals may see different lights this year.
