New Delhi: Minister of Health, Delhi, Satyendar Jain on Monday said fresh COVID-19 cases in the national capital today are likely to be 4,000-5,000 less than over 18,000 reported on Sunday.
"Delhi to report around 14,000-15,000 cases today, much less than yesterday (Sunday). Around 2.85 crore doses have been administered in Delhi," Satyendar Jain said.
The Delhi health minister also informed that 100 per cent of eligible population in the capital have been inoculated with the first dose of COVID vaccine. He further said 80 per cent of the people in the city have got the second dose.
"As many as 1.28 lakh people received precautionary dose," Jain said.
On Sunday, Delhi reported 18,286 new cases of COVID-19, lower than 20,718 cases registered a day before.
Delhi's COVID positivity rate was also down at 27.87 per cent from 30.64 per cent on Saturday.
The Delhi State Health Bulletin on COVID-19 informed that the capital saw 29 deaths due to the virus. There are currently 89,819 active cases of coronavirus in Delhi.
Meanwhile, the Haryana government has blamed Delhi for high COVID-19 infection rate in three districts of the state adjoining the national capital. Haryana health minister Anil Vij said the state has been adversely affected due to "uncontrolled" rise in the COVID cases in Delhi.
"Haryana has been adversely affected due to its vicinity to Delhi, but there is no need to panic," Vij added.
Replying to his Haryana counterpart, the Delhi health minister said, "These are political talks, I can also tell how many Haryana people are testing positive in Delhi. Over 1,000 COVID-19 cases are being reported from outside Delhi every day."
