Delhi records 11,684 new COVID cases, 38 deaths; positivity rate drops further to 22.47%

Delhi COVID update: Delhi recorded 11,684 new cases of COVID-19 in the last 24 hours, the state health department informed on Tuesday evening. The case positivity rate of the national capital has dropped further to 22.47 per cent.

On Monday, Delhi's case positivity rate stood at 27.99 per cent. The fresh infections reported in the national capital today are 6.72 per cent lower than 12,527 cases reported on Monday.

As many as 52,002 samples were tested for COVID since yesterday, the Delhi State Health Bulletin on COVID-19 informed.

In the last 24 hours, 38 people died of COVID in Delhi, higher than 24 single-day virus related casualty  reported on Monday.

The capital saw 17,516 patients recover from COVID in the last 24 hours. Delhi currently has 78,112 active cases of COVID-19.

There are total 2,590 COVID positive patients undergoing treatment at various designated hospitals in Delhi. Of these, 837 are in ICU, 871 are on oxygen support, and 139 are on ventilator support. 

There are 63,432 COVID positive patients in Delhi who are in home insolation. 

There were 1,51,314 beneficiaries in Delhi who received their COVID jab in the last 24 hours. Of these, 86,860 got their first dose, while 45,582 received their second dose of COVID vaccine.

Precaution dose or third dose, which is also being referred as booster shot was administered to 18,872 healthcare workers, frontline workers, and people above 60 years with comorbidities since yesterday in the national capital.

The drive to administer precaution dose started in the country on January 10, 2022. Since then, 1,47,257 people have got their vaccine shot in Delhi.

Vaccination drive for children between 15 and 18 years started on January 3 this year. Till date, 6,13,992 children between the age group have received their first dose of COVID-19 vaccine in Delhi.

In the last 24 hours, 48,387 children between 15 and 18 years got their vaccine dose in the national capital.
