New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be reviewing the preparedness of the coronavirus vaccine on Saturday and will be visiting the Pharmaceutical companies in Pune, Ahmedabad and Hyderabad that are involved in making these vaccines.
First, the Prime Minister will reach Zydus Cadila Park in Ahmedabad, then will travel to Bharat Biotech in Hyderabad and then finally visit the Serum Institute of India in Pune.
As per the schedule, PM Modi will begin his three-city vaccine tour with a visit to the pharma chief Zydus Cadila's plant near Ahmedabad at 9:30 am. The drugmaker has announced that Phase-I testing of its COVID-19 vaccine ZyCoV-D has been completed and has begun Phase-II testing from August.
From Ahmedabad, PM Modi will fly to Pune, where the Serum Institute of India (SII) is located. The Serum Institute of India has partnered with Oxford University and global pharma giant AstraZeneca on the COVID-19 vaccine. Prime Minister, Narendra Modi will review the vaccine's status which includes details such as the arrival time, production and distribution mechanisms during his visit.
PM Modi will then visit Bharat Biotech situated in Hyderabad, working as India's first bio-vaccine. The Prime Minister is expected to arrive at 3:40 pm and will take flight at 5:40 pm after traveling between 4 pm and 5 pm.
On November 24, the Prime Minister, in a video conference while speaking with the Chief Ministers of various states on the worsening pandemic situation in the states, advised the states to set up cold storage facilities for COVID-19 vaccine in advance and also suggested to prepare and send a plan for distribution to the central government.
