Bengaluru: A whopping 287 new cases of Omicron were reported in Karnataka's capital Bengaluru on Monday. This is, so far, the maximum number of Omicron cases reported by the state in a single day.
With the fresh infections, Karnataka Omicron tally has to 766, state health minister Sudhakar K said.
"287 new Omicron cases confirmed in Bengaluru today taking the overall tally in the State to 766," Sudhakar K tweeted.
With the rise in cases of COVID-19 and its highly mutant variant Omicron, Karnataka Chief Minister Basavaraj Bommai along with Sudhakar K, held a virtual meeting with senior officials of the state government, health department and technical advisory committee (TAC).
On Sunday, Karnataka health department informed that the state reported 34,047 new COVID-19 cases and 13 deaths due to the infection. Karnataka's test positivity rate stood at 19.29 per cent. Bengaluru Urban district alone recorded 21,071 fresh infections.
