New Delhi: The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Tuesday announced Bhagwant Mann's name as its chief ministerial face for Punjab assembly election 2022. Minutes later AAP's official Twitter handle released two videos with a Bollywood touch and expressed the excitement that the party has and people of Punjab might have after Mann's name was declared.
One video is based on the popular song Mast Kalandar from Heyy Babyy where the characters faces have been replaced with Navjot Singh Sidhu, Charanjit Singh Channi, Arvind Kejriwal, Rahul Gandhi and Bhagwant Mann. All of them have been shown going after the Chief Minster's chair, represented by Vidya Balan’s character. Bhagwant Mann in the video has a grand, heroic and the CM's chair is also shown 'happy' with his name.
The original song stars Shah Rukh Khan, Riteish Deshmukh, Akshay Kumar, Anupam Kher and Vidya Balan.
AAP captioned the video, “Punjab’s next CM is in the house!”
Another video was from Sooryavanshi, where the video begins with Ranveer Singh saying, "Akkha Public Ko Malum Hai Kaun Aane Wala Hai. Tere Ko nahi Malun? (The entire public knows who is going to come. You don't know?)
The dialogue then abruptly cuts with Arvind Kejriwal announcing the AAP's chief ministerial face for Punjab.
The caption of the video read, "Punjab mai kaun aane wala hai" (Who is going to come in Punjab).
Arvind Kejriwal also congratulated Bhagwant Mann and said the entire state of Punjab is looking up to AAP as a "hope".
Kejriwal said he is confident that Bhagwant Mann will "bring back smile on the face of every Punjabi".
"I congratulate Sardar Bhagwant Mann on being declared CM face of AAP in Punjab. Whole Punjab is looking up to AAP as a hope. Its a huge responsibility and I am sure Bhagwant will bring back smile on the face of every Punjabi," Kejriwal tweeted.
The name of Mann as AAP's CM candidate for Punjab was picked by people of the state. The party had launched the "Janta Chunegi Apna CM" drive, saying the name of the candidate for the top post will be announced after getting the feedback of people.
