Tensions between India and Pakistan may give Gen Sharif an extension

New Delhi: Ever since tension between India and Pakistan has escalated to a dangerous level after the Uri attack, General Raheel Sharif may get an extension as Pakistan army chief as only four weeks are left to his retirement.

Considering the fact that General Sharif continues to remain as active as ever, Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has been advised by his party men to give him one-year extension.

"The General has maintained his popularity in the public and some of his supporters can make a case that horses shouldn't be changed midstream," saidSalman Masood, a defence analyst.

However, there is no hint as of now from the Pakistan government that it is planning to extend General sharif term amid the ongoing face-off with India.
