New Delhi: Yamaha has introduced a new limited edition version of its YZF-R3 sports bike for the international markets. This new limited edition is designed to commemorate Yamaha's first win at the Belgian GP in 1964 with Phil Reid. This edition of the bike has been named as the World GP 60th Anniversary Edition.
The new paint scheme available on the bike includes the classic speed block pattern and white/red color combo. Also, the wheels of the motorcycle are painted in a dark gold/bronze theme. It also gets a yellow racing number on the front, which is a reminder of the company's racing heritage.
Apart from the new paint theme, no other changes have been made to the motorcycle. It is being sold only with its 321cc, parallel-twin engine, which was launched with this bike a few years back.
Apart from this, the tool kit includes upside-down forks, monoshock, full-LED lighting and disc brakes. It sports a very aggressive styling and aero-speedly designed bodywork.
The new Anniversary Edition model has been priced higher than the standard model. Apart from the new R3, the company has also revealed limited edition models of its YZF-R1 and YZF-R7 models that have been given the same paint theme. However, Indian fans of these bikes may regret that none of these bikes are going to be launched in India recently.
Some of the major rivals of Yamaha YZF-R3 in the international market include KTM RC 390, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and TVS Apache RR310.
