New Delhi: Tata Motors may soon launch its micro SUV Punch in India. Ahead of the launch, Tata Motors has been aggressively promoting Punch. Meanwhile, some dealerships of the company have started taking bookings for the car.
However, the company has not yet started car's official booking. But according to the information, some dealerships have started booking this car with a token money of Rs 11,000.
Recently, Tata had released another teaser video of the Punch, which shows the car running smoothly on bumpy roads. Looking at this video, it is being speculated that this new offering from Tata Motors will be equipped with many terrain modes.
Earlier, the teaser video of the punch that Tata released shows that Tata has tried to give the rear look of the punch as bold design as its front. The company has retained the chunky lower section at the rear of this SUV, which doesn't have any skid plates, but a large black cladding along with a set of taillights is definitely visible here. The teaser also reveals arrow-shaped wrap-around taillights, which are in sync with the arrow-shaped design of the boot lid.
Talking about the front, here you get LED DRL units like the company's own SUV Harrier with headlights, a big bonnet and a great grille. Also, the alloy wheels of this car have also been made very attractive. Apart from this, the big wheels provided with this car will also give a feeling of comfort while driving on any kind of road.
It is worth noting that Tata Motors, going away from the possibilities, has named this car as Punch instead of HBX or Hornbill.
Tata believes that the name 'Punch' makes it clear which group the company wants to target in the segment. It is being speculated that Tata Motors may launch this new offering before the festival season this year.
Auto analysts believe that Tata Motors has high expectations from the punch after the subcompact SUV Nexon and premium hatchback Altroz have performed well in the market.
Tata Motors may offer the Punch only in a petrol engine option. The car is expected to get power from a 1.2-litre, three-cylinder naturally aspirated petrol engine. The same engine is also seen in the Tiago, Tigor and Altroz. This engine is capable of producing 86 hp of power. Talking about transmission options, this car will also get a 5-speed manual gearbox and AMT.
