Why is the hashtag 'Amazon Insult National Flag' trending on Twitter?

New Delhi: The hashtag Amazon Insult National Flag is trending on Twitter since Monday morning. Thousands of tweets have been made with this hashtag. Many users are tweeting against Amazon using this hashtag. In fact, ahead of Republic Day, Amazon has angered Indian netizens by selling the Indian flag tricolor printed on shirts, chocolates and many other products.

Amazon is selling face masks that have the Indian flag printed on them. People say that after using the mask, it will be thrown away or washed away. This will insult the tricolor. While one can argue that Amazon's intention was either to promote 'patriotism' or purely to monetise, netizens in India have not seen it that way.

Amazon insulted the national flag

Let us tell you that earlier the US branch of Amazon had sold shoes and metal hoops for shoe laces to match the Indian tricolor. The Indian government had issued a notice to the online shopping company to respect Indian sensibilities and sentiments. After which Amazon had also apologized to the then External Affairs Minister Sushma Swaraj for hurting the patriotic sentiments of the people by selling a doormat printed with the Indian flag.

Significantly, according to the State Emblem of India Act 2005 provided for the purpose of any trade, profession, calling or profession, or for the use of the emblem in the title of a patent, or in any mark or design, it is a punishable offence.

Trending on Twitter On this hashtag, a user wrote that the T-shirt with the tricolor flag is being sold on the e-commerce site Amazon. Even before this, Amazon has insulted the tricolor of India many times by selling shoes and toilet seat covers, masks etc.

At the same time, another user wrote that Amazon is insulting our national flag. They should take back all products that insult us. Government should take legal action on this. And they are only thinking that how to earn money not about our country, it is very shameful.
