Dubai: The duo of KL Rahul and Ishan Kishan will be opening for India in this crucial fixture against New Zealand as it decides the fate of the teams for the Semi-finals.
No Rohit Sharma as the opener.
This opening partnership would come as a shock for New Zealand. Rahul and Ishan showed great partnership strength in the warm-up match as they garnered 82 runs before losing the opening wicket.
Kl Rahul made a stunning half-century of 4 deliveries, and Ishan proved his place by hitting 3 sixes, 7 boundaries and a total of 70 runs off 46 balls.
Virat Kohli said at the toss, "We would have bowled first as well. We need a solid start and have wickets in hand to get those extra 20-25 runs are the learnings from the last game. We do have the bowling line-up to take wickets, but when you don't have runs on the board one partnership can take the game away from you. We understand that and plans are there to get those extra runs. It's ridiculous; we are playing twice in 10 days. Too long a break, but yeah, the guys have recovered well".
