New Delhi: The England cricket team's limited-overs captain Eoin Morgan and wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler have come under controversy due to racial remarks made against Indians. While the England Cricket Board has started an investigation on this conversation of these players, then in the Indian Premier League (IPL) these players may have to face difficulties.
According to the report, the franchises of Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are thinking of banning these players. It is noteworthy that during this conversation, Kolkata Knight Riders coach and former New Zealand player Brendon McCullum had also joined, after which KKR's team can take action against him too.
After being suspended by the ECB for making racist and obscene remarks on 8-year-old Asians, fast bowler Olly Robinson has been suspended from international cricket and barred his return till the completion of the investigation. After which Jos Buttler and Eoin Morgan's conversation also went viral on social media, in which they are seen making fun of Indian people for using the word Sir.
"Screenshots have also been shared of a message by Buttler in which he says 'I always reply sir no1 else like me like you like me' and, separately, Morgan includes Buttler in a message which says, 'Sir you're my favorite batsman'," claimed a report.
"Although there are questions over the precise context of the tweets, they were written at a time when Buttler and Morgan have established England players and have caused offense on social media," a report in England's Telegraph said about the two English players' Twitter comments.
"We don't know enough about it to comment at this time. Let's wait for the process to be completed to get all the facts before we jump to any conclusions. Just to reiterate, the Knight Riders organization has 'zero tolerance for any sort of discrimination," Mysore told Cricbuzz.
The remaining matches of IPL 2021 are to be held from September 19 and the ECB has already made it clear that it has decided not to send its players for the remainder of this season. In such a situation, if the franchisees decide to ban the players, then it is not going to be of much use. Because if teams do this, it will be just a show.
