Shocking: Cops in UP "beat man to death" over collision of bikes

New Delhi, Oct 14: In a shocking incident here in Uttar Pradesh, a 28-year-old man was reportedly "beaten to death" on Friday by policemen on patrol duty after his two-wheeler collided with the cops' motorcycle in Farrukhabad district.

According to a report in "The Times of India", the victim's family members later staged a protest at the hospital where the man was taken for treatment, demanding action against the two policemen. Farrukhabad ASP Tribhvan Singh said, "A case will be filed on the basis of the complaint of the victim's family members." Reports said the incident took place when the victim, Rajiv Pandey, and his friend Jeetu Yadav were on their way back home from Addupur village in Farrukhabad.

The victims's friend Jeetu who was on the bike with him, said, " Soon after the collision, Rajiv was caught hold and beaten by the policemen ruthlessly," he alleged, adding that instead of providing medical assistance, the cops left Rajiv unattended and escaped.
