Patna, Oct 28: The latest wave of crime continues unabated in Bihar, raising questions on the law and order situation and exposing CM Nitish Kumar's claims. A college teacher was shot dead on Sunday in Bihar's Nalanda district, police said."Arvind Kumar, a professor at the PMS college, was shot dead near Elite hotel in Bhagan Bigha area by unidentified assailants when he was on a morning walk," a district police official said.The police have lodged a case and started a probe.Minor Gangraped during NavratriEarlier this month, in a horrifying case a minor was gangraped on Navmi. The gang-raped Class 9 student was seriously injured on Friday after she leapt from a building and landed on high voltage wire in Bihar's Lakhisarai district, triggering mob violence, police said.The victim was battling for life after jumping from the roof of a three-storey building in Chitranjan where she was raped after being intoxicated, Lakhisarai Superintendent of Police Kartikey Sharma said.According to Sharma, the girl along with one of her friends had gone 'pandal' hopping on Durga Navami on Thursday.It was unclear how she reached the third floor of the building, Sharma said.The police suspect that she must have jumped from the building after gaining consciousness. She was recovered in a half naked condition. She was possibly forced to consume liquor before being raped, Sharma added.The police are waiting to register her statement as she remains unconscious.Her girlfriend, the owner of the building and another suspect have been detained, the police officer said.Police have recovered some of the victim's clothes, liquor bottles and glasses from the building roof.The incident triggered violent protests in the area. Hundreds of people blocked roads and ransacked public property demanding immediate police action. Additional security forces have been deployed in the area.Bihar Crime in SeptemberKidnappings and murders have rocked Bihar again, exposing CM Nitish Kumar's claims on law and order situation in the state. In September, within 48 hours three persons, including two students, were kidnapped and two were murdered. One of those killed was kidnapped son of a doctor in Patna. The kidnappers had demanded Rs 50 lakh ransom.  Two people, including a 15-year-old school boy and a bank official, were abducted in Bihar. Shivam, the son of a homoeopath, was kidnapped from Rupaspur locality in Patna and a ransom of Rs 50 lakh was demanded from his family for safe release. Patna Senior Superintendent of Police Manu Maharaj said a case was lodged on Friday in this connection and police have launched operation to rescue the boy. According to police officers here, people suspected to be involved in the abduction have been detained and are being interrogated by the police. The boy later murdered.In another case, Jaivardhan Kumar, a branch manager of Bihar Kshetriya Grameen Bank, was abducted in Sheikhpura district on Thursday evening when he was returning home. "Police have been trying to rescue him," Sheikhpura Superintendent of Police Daya Shankar said. The abductors have reportedly demanded a ransom from the family. In yet another case, a student was kidnapped in Moithari district.Later, another murder came to light. A home tutor was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Bihar's Begusarai district, police said on Saturday. Anil Kumar Singh, 55, was shot dead on Friday night when he was returning home, Rajeev Kumar, a police official, said."Singh was on way to his home after teaching at a home in Barauni township when criminals shot him dead," police said.
